Feature and Follow Friday {3}

Feature and Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read that gives bloggers the opportunity to gain followers and meet other bloggers!

This Week's Question...

Do your reading habits change based on your mood? Do you read a certain genre if you are feeling depressed or happy?

I'm going to have to give a big yes to this one! Whenever I'm scanning through my bookshelf, trying to pick a book to read, my mood at that moment greatly determines what book I choose. For example, when I'm stressed or upset about something, I go for a book that looks extra happy and swoon worthy. But when I'm in a really good mood, darker books are always more appealing. I guess I kind of live by that saying, "We all want what we don't have." If I'm happy, I want to be sad....If I'm sad, I want to be happy...man, I'm difficult ! *Embraces Bipolar-ness* ;P

Thanks for sticking around and reading my answer to this week's FF question! If you subscribe to my blog, be sure to leave a comment and I'll make sure I follow you back! See you next Friday!

Your Y.A. Bookworm,
Caitlin <3

    1. Being happy makes me better equipped to handle darker reads...if I'm in a down mood and read something dark I become mush, lol!

  2. I am a shelf scanner too and I usually have to read and re-read the backs of the books before I can pick out the one that I like.

  6. Ha, that really is true. Always wanting to read about the opposite feeling you are in. The only thing is I get a little TOO lost in the books so when a character is angry at her boyfriend I tend to lash out at mine too and then have to apologize to him later for it (tehe).

If anything, if I'm in a sad or depressed mood I MAY look for a sadder book just so I can get the satisfaction that someone is doing worse than me... because I am not a good person lol that's mean... but that rarely ever happens. 27. See, I do the opposite thing with movies! When I'm in a really good mood, I won't mind picking up a generally dark or bitter-sweet movie. When I'm sad, the last thing I want to see is a sad movie or a horror flick!

    With books, I tend not to follow that same pattern. Not sure why... Hm! There's one for the scientists I suppose!

  32. I'm the same way, except books don't usually upset me if I'm happy. Well, I can usually let go of the sadness pretty quickly after the book is over anyway. I do try to read emotional stories when I'm in a good mood, though. And a happy book usually puts a bounce in my step when I'm feeling down. Hmm...kind of strange that an emotional book doesn't affect my mood much, but a positive story does... Oh well. I guess that's a good thing??? lol!
